Reese's birthday buddy

Reese is one month old. wow. Time is flying by. Here are some things she's up to: She's starting to recognize us and sort of smile back. She is still sleeping so well (last night she slept almost six hours) and she's definitely growing! Some of her little newborn clothes are getting quite tight. Her umbilical cord came off at 3 1/2 weeks and she still hates taking baths. It's really the only time she screams. poor little thing. it's so sad. She's also doing great at her tummy time and seems to be pulling her head up really well. Another thing she's started is to follow objects (and sometimes me) with her eyes as they move around. What a precious angel she is. I just can't get enough :)

huge smile!! i love it :)

Grace had her senior prom last weekend and Anne Marie came in town to help her get ready. Here are all the Mason girls to send her off. She is beautiful!!

Here's a fun story: Some of our best friends from Lubbock, Chris and Denae Hutson, welcomed their second son, Reed David, into the world on the same day as Reese!! Throughout our pregnancy we kept saying how fun it would be if the babes were born on the same day.... and sure enough, I was late and Denae was early and it really happened. So for the rest of her life Reese will always have Reed as her special birthday buddy! So fun! We got to skype with them the other day and Reed is just precious! I can't wait to meet him in person. {Another fun note... their first son, Will, came home from the hospital the day we moved into our house in Lubbock - which is when we met the Hutsons since they were our across the street neighbors. We've gotten to watch him grow up (now from far away) but it has been so fun. He's almost three and is the greatest kid!}

Denae blogged about Reed and Reese too. Here's her blog... http://pageisturned.blogspot.com/2010/05/reed-meets-reese.html

hold to Jesus

I absolutely love this song - "Hold on to Jesus" - from the cd SING OVER ME. I've always loved this song but it sure means so so much more to me now! I pray it over Reese every time we listen to it and it truly brings me to tears each time... it's just so hard to truly let go of my precious daughter and give her over to the Lord and let him take care of her. (and I know it will only get harder as she grows up) ... My favorite verse is the last one which says "Hear me dear Jesus, rock this little one to sleep. Keep her close when she's scared and give her grace when she is weak. I know she'll stumble but I know she'll make it through if you hold to her just like you said You'd do. Hold her Jesus and she'll hold on tight to You."

HOLD ON TO JESUS
You're a little piece of heaven
You're a golden ray of light
And I wish I could protect you
From the worries of this life
But if there's one thing I could tell you
It's no matter what you do
Hold to Jesus
He's holding on to you

The world will try to tell you
That might is more than right
That beauty's on the outside
And being good's a losing fight
But remember what I've told you
Because the world will make you choose
Hold to Jesus
He's holding on to you

Hold on to Jesus
Cling to His love
Rest deep in His mercy
Whenever things get rough
Don't lose sight of His goodness
And don't ever doubt this truth
That when you hold on to Jesus
He's holding on to you

Hear me dear Jesus
Rock this little one to sleep
Keep her close when she's scared
And give her grace when she is weak
I know she'll stumble
But I know she'll make it through
If you hold to her just like
You said You'd do
Hold her Jesus
And she'll hold on tight to You

first road trip

This past weekend our family of three took our first road trip to Fayetteville, AR for my brother's graduation from the University of Arkansas and then we drove on to Branson to have a Mother's day brunch at my house there. It was a ton of driving for a quick trip but it was so worth it. I'm so glad we were able to be there for Eric and it was also really special to spend mother's day with my mom and grandmother and my precious daughter.

Reese sure was excited about the drive :) She did awesome in the car. She just slept most of the time and was a happy baby.

Here she is meeting her great-grandparents for the first time! They drove up from Baton Rouge. They're the best!
She's all dressed up for the ceremony. Again, she did great and just slept through the whole thing.

We're so proud of you, brother!!

The whole gang...

After graduation we got to have dinner with the whole Cooper family {our very very best family friends growing up}. It was such a fun time! I was so excited that Reese got to meet them!
After dinner we drove to Branson and were there for Mother's day. We had a yummy brunch and it was so special to spend it with four generations!! I sure love being a mother and couldn't love my mom and grandmother any more! I'm so thankful to have such wonderful, Godly, loving examples of how to be a mother. I hope and pray that I can be that to Reese as she grows up.

photo shoot

I really need to stop because I am having so much fun taking pictures of little Reeser. I just think she is the cutest thing ever and no, of course i'm not bias :) Here are some I took last week when she was 9 days old....

I am absolutely loving being a mommy. Reese has been the greatest baby we could have asked for! She is still eating great and sleeping solid! {Except someone needs to explain to hear about the difference between day and night - she has been waking up to eat at about 3 or 4am and then is just precious, wide-eyed and wide awake for a good few hours! She just looks around and smiles and is ready to play. What a doll! We've been having some great quality time together watching the Cosby Show and lots of workout infomercials.}

We went to the pediatrician this week for her 2 week checkup and she gained 1 lb and grew 1 in. She was a great little patient. We have also been getting out and about this week and she does great in her car seat. We've been to Target and Old Navy and today we went to get manicures :) Although she never actually saw the inside of any of those places because she was asleep the whole time ha.

Tomorrow we're taking our first road trip as a family of three to Fayetteville for my dear brother's graduation from college (university of Arkansas) and then going to Branson to celebrate mothers day. I can't wait. I am just praying praying praying that Reese does well in the car and that it won't take us 12 hours to get there! but even if it does, it will be worth it.... i'm so excited for Reese to get to meet so many fun people!
