beaverdale fall fest

at her first day of "school" -
aka mommy goes to thursday morning bible study for 2 hrs and
reese has what we like to call "church school" and she takes her backpack and thinks she's pretty cool :)
........

This past weekend was our neighborhood's fall festival. We weren't really sure what to expect but had heard it was a really big deal and a really fun weekend. They closed off several of the main streets for the whole weekend so we walked down Friday night to check it out and were so surprised by what a MAJOR thing it was. It was like a mini little fair or something just a few blocks down from us. There were tons of food vendors, rides, games, prizes, bounce houses, tons of bands playing outside the restaurants and bars in the square (and they were all REALLY good) and we had a blast! Reese thought it was just about the greatest thing- well until she heard the fireworks from our house and freaked out she was soooo scared. poor thing. She has asked if we can go back to the carnival every day this week :)

Saturday morning they had a parade and again, I thought it would be a few cars and maybe a church group or something but boy was I wrong. This thing was legit. It went on for 2 hours. R got more candy than we could ever eat. There were a billion floats, bands, groups, politicians, cars, clowns, puppets, bikes... etc. I wish you could hear reese tell you about it. :) It was really fun!!

Then when Mark got off work we went back to eat dinner on the lawn, listen to music and watch R dance in the street, eat the best ice cream sandwich I've ever had, almost buy a lot of things we dont need like beaverdale shirts and tupperware and reese wanted a necklace with her name written on a piece of rice but instead settled for a free toothbrush and some facepaint :) Such a fun weekend!!! It was hilarious though bc we kept seeing tons of families with little kids that obviously live super close to us and we would totally lean over to each other and say "we could totally be friends with them" haha it turned into a joke and if we ever actually meet anyone with kids in our neighborhood it will be even funnier. Maybe by the fest next year we'll have friends to go with :) but for now we're loving our family of three.

---i should say we do have a few friends here but they don't live in our neighborhood and couldn't join us for the festival. we're not complete losers :) as it may sound---
